Home Decor That Never Goes Out of Style

Wednesday, February 3, 2016

You know the saying "some things just never go out of style". That phrase definitely holds true with home decor items. Trends may come and go with each season, and you may even decide to change your home decor to an entirely different style,

Either way, there are some die-hard pieces that in my mind, just stand the test of time.

I'm showcasing a few of my favorites below.....what do you think? What are your favorite pieces to re-use, regardless of what is popular?

Dried Elements & Texture:I love using dried elements in most of my decor vignettes. I think it's a great way to bring extra interest to your home with interesting layers!

Moss is not only pretty to look at, but it's a functional "filler" for trays and bowls.

I really love using twig balls and burlap.......my burlap sacks are used all the time! I'll place them on the bottom of trays, bowls, just about anywhere I want to dress up an empty space. I purchase my burlap bags from the Tractor Supply store and they are only $1.19 each....go stock up!

I found my candlesticks at a second hand store and decided to transform them from their original gold color to a weathered gray look.......a couple coats of white paint and some distressing and they were the perfect set!
The best part of painting some of your favorite items is that you can always change the paint color for an entirely different look.

Pretty Bowls:
As far as I'm concerned, you can never have enough gorgeous bowls! There are so many uses for them, from displaying your favorite treasures in a vignette, to stacking up plates for the holidays. I lean towards rustic wood looking options, and my dough bowls are my favorite to use!

A Comfy Throw:
Throw blankets never go out of style! They keep you warm when cuddling to watch TV and are the perfect finishing design element to any space!

A Bar Cart:
I need a little help in this department, I don't have a "true" bar cart, but I re-painted an old metal console table and turned it into a makeshift bar cart for my kitchen. I have filled it with all the fixings for company drinks and the wicker baskets hold wine openers and stir sticks.

I love this bar cart styled by 2 Ladies & a Chair.........it's a beautiful piece of furniture and ready to serve guests at a moments notice!

White Dishes: White dishes are timeless and allow you to add additional pops of color to your kitchen without over committing yourself to a total dish color change..

I usually add one vibrant color to the mix when I'm displaying my white dishes. It's the perfect compliment and really draws your eye in!

Printables: Printables are a quick and easy way to add instant interest to your home! Many are free, such as this super cute "Be Mine" printable created by Jennifer Reed of @sisterstudioIG and was featured in the February issue of Everything Home Magazine!
I like to change up my printables with each new season.....so fun!

  3. I just love your style... And painting the candlesticks is genius! You have the prettiest pieces.. ❤️

  4. Gathering from nature. Love your styling, Collette! I can't get enough of moss, pinecones, branches, etc. Indeed, they never go out of style.
