If you're anything like me, you wanted to scream at the top of your lungs when you saw Holiday decor going up in retail stores in July........slow your roll people! Let's actually enjoy each season, wouldn't you say? My sad face emojis are about to go into overdrive because Summer is officially over.
I may or may not have been living under a rock these past couple weeks working on my new home decor magazine Everything Home <-----------------(SUPER exciting), but I always have time to keep up with the latest home decor news and my sweet friends over on Instagram.
I'm definitely not a "trend expert" but I know a good thing when I see it, or read it in this case. As my daughter would say, "stay in your own lane" when it comes to following the newest and coolest of anything.
2016 home decor trends are flying through the internet and I've pretty much been smiling ear to ear since I learned that some of them are my favorites to decorate with already.
One of the focuses we will be seeing in 2016 is decorating with branches, twigs, fresh fruit & vegetables. I'm a rustic girl, so this is right up my alley. I'm all about bringing the outdoors in anytime of year. Heck, you might as well run to your backyard now and start plucking branches from your trees, because you'll definitely be using them in your tablescapes & vignettes in the upcoming year.
If you love metal then 2016 might just be your year. The new craze will be metal mixing. Copper with nickel. tin with iron...anything goes and I love it!
This trend reminds me of when silver jewelry became more popular than gold a few years back. Everyone thought they couldn't mix the two....I did. I'm a rebel that way.
I'll fit right in with another 2016 trend, naturals. My decorating style is rustic farmhouse meets industrial, and these two styles really play well together. I love raw wood items, galvanized metal (the more worn the better) and of course baskets.....I'm a basket junkie, and if there was a basket rehab? Yea......I wouldn't be writing this blog post right now because that's where I'd be.
So to wrap it up.....go grab your branches and twigs, metal objects in every size and color, and a few baskets. I'll meet you here at this gorgeous farmhouse dining table in my sweet friend Angela's house. Angela built this table friends.......#buildlikeagirl.
Go check out Angela's beautiful home tour, you'll thank me later.
