Fall Tray Styling

Welcome to Fall friends!

I don't know about you, but I am super excited that Fall has finally arrived! Even if you live in a warmer climate, you have to agree with me...... there's just something special about decorating your home this time of year. For me, it's the official kickoff to the upcoming Holiday season and that just puts a big ole smile on my face.
I'm crazy for textures, I love the mix of vibrant and neutral colors, and of course, the pumpkins! Who doesn't love pumpkins? Big one, little ones....I want them all.

A big part of Fall in my home is displaying fun festive trays everywhere! I love using them on my kitchen center island, my console table in my entryway, and of course on my coffee table. They make such a statement and this weeks At Home Design Series item surely fits that bill! Truth be told, I'm addicted to trays and I was "oh so happy" to add this gorgeous galvanized Mortenson tray to my collection.
Talk about versatile! This tray is the perfect mix of rustic/industrial and features three separate sections for you to get your "styling on". I love how the larger section allows you to display taller, chunkier items, such as tall vases and wood crates. It's perfect for Fall decor and I cannot wait to use it for Thanksgiving and Christmas too!

Fall is definitely on my brain this week so I wanted to fill up the Mortenson tray with some fun pieces I found at Michael's and Target this week. I painted these cute little dairy bottles with white chalk paint and perched them on top of coffee cups hidden underneath the striped ticking fabric.
I always use a variety of items to lift things up when using a flat tray for height. You can easily cover these with moss, leftover fabric or burlap (I'm sneaky that way)

How adorable are these clear bottles I found in the Target One Spot? They were only $1.00 each and look super cute displaying some fun Fall candies.

Book Pumpkin

One of my favorite Autumn crafts is to paint pumpkins. I apply white or gray craft paint to some of my store bought orange plastic pumpkins. Its so easy to do!
Two quick coats of gray paint on this orange pumpkin gave it the perfect touch for neutral Fall decor.
I also applied a little bit of black paint on the pumpkin "seams" for a more defined look. If you are tired of your current pumpkin colors, go ahead and give this a try...you can easily change your pumpkin colors every year!

I recently challenged my daughter Chloe to a "Painted Fox Mortenson Tray Throwdown".
We each selected items we wanted to use and placed them on our kitchen table. We didn't have to use all of the items, but we could ONLY use those items to design our trays. It was so fun to see her creative mind at work.
Each person looks at the same decor items differently and uses them in different ways. I think Chloe did a great job styling her tray for Fall with the perfect touch of whimsy.

I chose neutral colors and textured items to give my design a rustic outdoorsy feel. This tray is so fun and easy to work with. I can just imagine it filled with cornucopias for Thanksgiving and shiny ornaments for Christmas.

The Mortenson tray is definitely one of my favorite Painted Fox pieces and I'm sure it will be yours too!

Head on over to the Painted Fox website to snag one of these trays for yourself. Be sure to use the code: ATHOME20 to receive 20% off the regular purchase price at checkout.

I'd love to see how YOU use your Mortenson tray! Please tag me on Instagram because I'd love to take a peek!

Have a great week everyone! I'll see you back here next Thursday with a new Painted Fox item for you to fall in love with. Let's face it, when you shop at Painted Fox that's not hard to do!

Hugs,
Collette

  1. I'm not a big fall decorator because each we seem to have summer weather until Thanksgiving, but you have inspired me. I have a great big red tray that just might end up in the entry way this week.

I also have the dairy bottles that just might get painted yellow. I have never tried painting a bottle, but yours are just so cute. I don't think I will add candy thought because I can't stop once I begin eating candy corn.
